Get to know one of London’s rising artists who are part of Lick The Future: Sian Fan. The London based artist graduated from CSM in 2020 and seeks new ways for people to coexist with technology – especially when it comes to the embodiment, spirituality and human experience in this hyperconnected world. Here are 5 questions.
What is your favorite Netflix show? Or to binge?
I’m very much stuck in the 90s, so I really love rewatching Buffy! Netflix specific though Midnight Gospel is amazing.
What’s the weirdest thing you encountered in London?
Whilst at CSM there was this guy with a life-sized model of a gimp on wheels… That was weird, even for art school. Or there was the time I saw a squirrel eating an entire pitta bread to itself, also pretty weird.
Can you describe your work in less than 15 words?
Meditations on human experience in the digital age via bodies and botanics submerged in hyperspace.
If you’ve had the world’s attention for 1 min, what would you say?
Wow! Pressure! I’d like to say something thought-provoking and smart, but I’d probably just stammer for the whole minute.
Do you have any life soundtrack? Like when a sad song comes in and you pretend that you’re in a music video, kind of song.
Probably 1979 by The Smashing Pumpkins… or Grimes, Kill v. Maim.. Different vibes I know…
