There is currently a gallery exchange taking place between London-based gallery Pipeline and Newcastle-based Slugtown. With this swap, the galleries aim to develop a collegiate spirit between the two arts ecologies and foster a more nationally inclusive art community.

On view in London, Slugtown is presenting Shoehorn featuring the works of Hilda Kortei and Rachel Adams, while in Newcastle, Pipeline has organised Renegade, a solo exhibition by Conor Rogers.

The exchange is initiated by Tatiana Cheneviere, the founder of Pipeline, which is the first London gallery to commit to this kind of national gallery swap.

In Shoehorn, Hilda Kortei and Rachel Adams investigate ideas of value, labour, and the overlooked, presenting works that abstract quotidian objects into narrative-loaded pieces with new readings.

Kortei’s works critically examine systemic violence and gentrification, using materials like plastic fasteners and uprooted fences to highlight societal issues. Adams, on the other hand, delves into the feminisation of digital labour and historical deceit.

The exhibition runs until July 27th. For more information, visit Pipeline’s or Slugtown’s website.
